UTLC to boost multimodal transport in Kaliningrad region

UTLC and Kaliningrad Railway signed memoranda of cooperation with the ports of Kaliningrad region within implementation of multimodal transport between China and Europe. The purpose of the signed agreements is the creation of joint transport products under the programme.
The agreements were signed with the Kaliningrad Railway, a branch of Russian Railways, Kaliningrad Sea Trading Port, LLC Baltic Stevedore Company as well as with Federal State Unitary Enterprise Rosmorport.
This year, UTLC intends to increase the scope of cargo transport on the route China – Europe – China, including through Kaliningrad region. Taking into account the existing infrastructure restrictions at the intersection with the railways of the European Union, one of the most important directions in the development of transit services is the implementation of the project of multimodal container transport through the ports of Kaliningrad region.
Joint efforts of all the participants of the project will allow the creation of a new corridor on the Eurasian transit route, as well as offering a new transport and logistics product competitive as of time and cost. “Execution of the Memorandums of Cooperation between JSC UTLC and Kaliningrad Railway starts a new direction of cargo transportations by UTLC. Port, sea and railway are getting united to create new products aimed at the development of transit in general”, Aleksei Grom, the President of UTLC, said.
