Turin launches tender for Metro Line 2

Torino-metro_800px-Metro_Torino_station_FermiThe call for tenders should be published by the end of 2015 and the winner will be chosen in the spring of 2016. The city of Turin will be the contracting authority.
The resolution for the tender design of the new infrastructure has been, in fact, approved by the City Council. For this project, the decree “Sblocca Italia – Unlock Italy” has made available EUR10 million to the city of Turin.
The new alignment of the Line 2 will continue to cover North/South and East/West areas of the city and its length will be of about 21 kilometers, 14 in Turin and 7 in the town of Orbassano. The alignment has been divided into 4 lots in order to make the construction phase easier and to find the financial resources: the first stretch to be realized will be “Rebaudengo – Scalo Vanchiglia”, the second stretch will be “Cemetery – Parco Zappata”, the third one “Zappata – Porta Nuova” and finally the fourth between “Porta Nuova” and “Scalo Vanchiglia”.
