Transmashholding may invest EUR 170 million in Argentina

Transmashholding may invest EUR 170 million in projects in Argentina over the next five years if the company takes part in upgrading passenger and cargo rail transport, a representative of the company said.
“The figure of EUR 170 million was named by top managers of Transmashholding Andrei Bokarev and Kirill Lipa during negotiations with representatives of the Argentinian authorities. The sum includes investment over the five years in case the holding partakes in large scale upgrading of Argentinian railway transport, of the cargo and passenger railway transportation system, and of the Buenos Aires metro system,” the representative said.
In January this year, Transmashholding decided to create joint venture TMH-Argentina. Transmashholding owns 70% in TMH-Argentina, and local investor Helios owns the remaining 30%. In February, a representative of the company said that it had been working on possible exports of passenger rolling stock to Argentina.
