Network Rail awarded Amey a £3 million (EUR4 million) contract to provide Train Protection and Warning Systems (TPWS) design and installation services for the Crossrail project. Amey will design and install a bespoke system for the new Crossrail trains over the course of the 18- month contract.
Starting 2018, TPWS system will be replaced with the new European Train Control System currently under development, which will enable the electronic relay of signalling and lineside information directly to the driver inside the train cab.
