André Navarri, President and Chief Operating Officer, Bombardier Transportation recently stated at the international rail technology exhibition InnoTrans 2012 (Berlin, 18th-21st of September): “We envision a future of interconnected mobility with rail as the backbone of national transportation infrastructure. Our products and solutions respond to operators’ and governments’ needs to maximize capacity and flexibility, to upgrade existing networks efficiently and to increase interoperability across regional and international borders”.
Amongst the latest products of Bombardier is the V300ZEFIRO very high speed train for Italy, offering superior aerodynamic performance, an innovative design, reduced noise and increased safety, with its next generation FLEXX Speed bogies. It is part of the globally acclaimed BOMBARDIER ZERFIRO family of high speed trains that can transport up to twice as many passengers as the world’s largest aircraft at speeds of up to 380 km/h. Another innovation is the zero-emission BOMARDIER PRIMOVE e-mobility solution that is able to power-up all types of electric vehicles (trams, but also electric buses, cars and trucks) using wireless transmission of energy between cables installed under the road or track surface and components mounted unobtrusively under the vehicles. Other products are the TRAXX F140 AC “Last Mile“ locomotive that eliminates the need to change locomotives in shunting areas of a rail network and the TRAXX P160 DE Multi-Engine locomotive for freight and passenger transportation. A state-of-the-art commuter train is the BOMBARDIER SPACIUM train, an extra-wide, flexible vehicle, with a very attractive interior design, conceived for maximum seating capacity, superior passenger comfort and safety as well as ease of access. The BOMBARDIER OMNEO train is the world’s first articulated Electric Multiple Unit alternating single and double-deck cars for an exceptional capacity with a very high level of passenger comfort, low noise and vibration levels, high energy efficiency, and a very flexible interior layout; the TWINDEXX double-deck intercity trains for Switzerland equipped with the FLEXX Tronic WAKO system, which allows to travel through curves up to 15 per cent faster than with conventional bogies.
More products are the versatile BOMBARDIER INNOVIA driverless systems for urban centres and airports, the CITYFLO 650 cost effective mass transport control solution, the BOMBARDIER ORBITA real-time data gathering and diagnostic technology that ensured flawless passenger service during London Olympics 2012, and the unique combination of 100 per cent low-floor technology with conventional wheel-sets bogies of the comfortable BOMBARDIER FLEXITY2 tram.
