TfL extends contract with British Steel

Transport for London (TfL) awarded British Steel a two-year contract extension for the supply of rails to London Underground. The framework extension for rail supply envisages a volume of 4,000 tonnes of rail per year.
Under the agreement, revolutionary rail products will be delivered, designed and manufactured in the UK. They include HP335 solution, which will reduce wear, plastic flow and rolling contact fatigue, reducing the need to carry out costly and time-consuming repairs. They will also be delivered with Zinoco solution which provides protection in harsh and corrosive conditions, extending track life.
Both rail types have been given formal product approval by London Underground.
“We look forward to continuing to work with TfL and London Underground to deliver timely and cost-effective solutions to the challenges they face,” Peter Smith, British Steel’s Managing Director Rail said.
