Tehran and Moscow ink MoU on transport cooperation

iran-rusia_imagesThe Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Alexey Tsydenov, the deputy minister of transport of the Russian Federation, and Mehrdad Taqizadeh, the Iranian deputy transport minister, on the sidelines of the eighth Iran-Russia Joint Transportation Committee meeting in Tehran.
During the event, Tsydenov said the two sides agreed to build a joint factory to produce high quality rails to be used in the joint projects within three months, tehrantimes.com informes.
The parties also expressed their readiness to take necessary measures to expedite the signing of the contract for signaling Garmsar-Incheh Borun railway in Iran.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Taqizadeh presented Qazvin-Rasht-Astara railway project’s profile and the Russian side agreed to provide financing and execution conditions within two months.
Russian Railways has participated in some of Iran’s infrastructure projects before, among which signaling of the railway line Tabriz–Azarshahr in 2012 could be mentioned.

Also, the Russian Railways announced the intention to open an office in Tehran.
