Sweden signs train modernization contract

swedenSwedish State Railways (SJ) has commissioned Swedtrac RailService AB, a service subsidiary of Knorr-Bremse, to modernize its X 2000 high-speed trains.
Under the contract, the company will modernise the interior and exterior of a total of 227 cars. Swedtrac is to equip the trains with new seats, floor, wall and ceiling coverings, internal doors, galleys, and toilets.
In 2014, SJ launched a modernization program costing SEK 3.5 billion (EUR 380 million) for its new X 2000 fleet. This contract is part of SJ’s program.
