Sławków terminal expansion secures financing

terminal in Sławków

An investment agreement was signed between the Polish Industrial Development Agency (ARP) and Euroterminal Sławków on May 26, 2025, for the expansion of the terminal in Sławków which will not only transform Polish logistics sector but also strengthens country’s position on Europe’s geopolitical map.

PLN 181 million (EUR 42.7 million) of which ARP will provide PLN 108 million (EUR 25.5 million) while PLN 73 million (EUR 17.2 million) is a European grant from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment (FEnIKS) programme.

EUR 1 billion is the estimated value of the entire project, which will include further investment phases.

The official event was attended by the Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, Minister of Industry Marzena Czarnecka, Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak, Silesian Province Governor Marek Wójcik and Silesian Province Marshal Wojciech Saługa.

“Infrastructure is the lifeblood of the Polish economy, which is why the expansion of the terminal in Sławków is money well spent from the perspective of Polish logistics and transport. Our sector is modern and plays a key role in transshipment processes across Europe and beyond,” the Minister for Infrastructure, Dariusz Klimczak, said.

As part of the first phase of the investment, the construction of a second intermodal terminal with seven new tracks has been planned. This will significantly increase the facility’s capacity, along with the installation of modern cargo handling equipment designed for intermodal containers, which will accelerate the transport of goods from Ukraine and Asia to Europe.

Due to the expansion of the terminal in Sławków, the capacity will nearly double from currently 285,000 TEU annually to 530,000 TEU.

Sławków marks the end of the broad-gauge LHS line, the only infrastructure of its kind in the European Union, enabling seamless transshipment of goods from Asia without the need to change tracks, significantly reducing both time and transport costs. The true asset of Sławków lies in its broad-gauge tracks, running from the Ukrainian border near Hrubieszów all the way to the terminal in Sławków.
