Siemens cuts costs at its Siemens Transformers facility in Voronezh (Russia), following a drop in orders from RZD. Siemens will retain operations and functions but will reduce the area of leased premises.
“The reason for optimization is a substantial reduction of OAO RZD orders for traction transformers for locomotives and high-speed trains”, a market source said for Interfax.
Siemens Transformers is fully-owned by Siemens AG. The facility was commissioned in February 2012. Siemens invested around 50 M EUR into the plant.
