In October 2011, Siemens announced a new sector of activity: Infrastructure & Cities, next to the existing ones: Healthcare, Energy and Industry. The technologic solutions developed by this sector have the purpose of meet the growing challenges faced by urban structures, considering the demographic evolution, the population dynamics toward cities, the growing commuting distances etc. Mobility and Logistics, and Rail Systems Divisions within the sector are dedicated to the railway domain. They offer, on one hand, the newest and most competitive technologies for the railway systems, and on the other hand, personalized solutions for delivering rolling stock, maintenance, warranty service and technical support.
Siemens innovations for railway systems come from tradition, competitive spirit and an extended portfolio. Even when talking about heavy industry and the production of massive structures, such as trains and trams, Siemens manages to bring to market high performance customized products, adapted for the requests and needs of its clients.
Our portfolio includes the newest and most attractive rolling stock on the market and includes locomotives, trams and subway trains, regional trains, intercity trains and high speed trains. They are innovative, comfortable, energy efficient and they do not affect the environment. Infrastructure & Cities portfolio has been extended with innovations such as Vectron locomotive, Ultra Low Floor trams, eco trams. In Romania, the Imperio Eco Green tram is manufactured under Siemens license in collaboration with Astra Vagoane Călători SA Arad, for the production of which our company delivers the boogies and the action, command and control unit. The Siemens tram with ULF (Ultra Low Floor) runs In Arad and Oradea. And on the rails of Romania we have the Blue Arrow tram.
