Serbia orders additional Vectron locomotives

Serbian rail freight operator, Serbia Cargo, and Siemens signed a contract for the supply of 8 additional Vectron locomotives from Siemens, bringing the total Vectron fleet to 16 units. The contract is funded by a second EBRD-tranche and has a value of EUR 32 million.
The multisystem locomotives will answer mobility demands on electrified lines with different power supply systems and are designed for speeds of up to 160 km/h.
On June 2018, the two companies signed a EUR 32 million contract for the acquisition of 8 Vectron locomotives that will be delivered in March 2019.
Serbia will modernize its rolling stock fleet by purchasing 80 diesel and electric locomotives and 3000 cars. For this project, Serbia Cargo will invest more than EUR 50 million from its own funds.
