Second Tel Aviv light-rail line to be built

Tel Aviv-Green line_green_487x462_eng_0The Green Line is a light rail line to be operated in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area mass transit system. The line will connect the southern portions of the Gush Dan metropolitan area (Holon and the outskirts of Rishon Lezion) with the city of Tel Aviv, and serve as the connecting line of the planned mass transit system, providing a solution for future development along the coast between Tel Aviv and Herzliya, and enabling accessibility to the employment centers in Ramat Hahayal, Tel Aviv University, Holon, and Rishon Lezion.
The length of the line is approximately 39km, of which 4.5km are underground, with 61 stations, five of which are underground (the Levinski,  Carlebach, Dizengoff, Kikar Rabin/Municipality, and Arlozorov stations).The route was approved in a closed meeting, to which only government and infrastructure committee representatives were invited.
The estimated budget for the execution is estimated at NIS 4.5 billion (USD 1.17 billion) and the works should be executed in 4 – 5 years.
