São Paulo Metro network to be privatised

Sao Paolo-metro_mapaGeraldo Alckmin, the Governor of São Paulo, announced its intentions to privatize six of the nine existing or planned metro lines, which represents about 60% of the network.
The most recent plans of the government in this respect are related to promoting the first urban mobility concession in São Paulo within this semester.
Probably, Metro Line 5 (Mauve) and Monorail Line 17 (Gold) could be tendered togheter in this package.
A concession for the operation of Line 18 (Bronze) was signed last year. Metro line 4 (Yellow) is already operated under this model.
An operating concession is proposed for Line 5, which is due to be extended to an interchange with Line 2 at Chácara Klabin by 2018.
The 13.5km Line 6 (Orange) from Brasilândia to São Joaquim is being constructed by the Move São Paulo consortium under a Reais 9.6bn 25-year build-operate PPP concession awarded by the state government in November 2013. Commercial operations are due to start in 2020.
Monorail Line 15 (Silver), which runs to the East of São Paulo, will also be the object of a Public-Private Partnership.
