Samsun city decided to purchase new trams

The Metropolitan Municipality Council of the Samsun city, in Turkey, approved a proposal for the purchase of 11 new trams. The Council suggested that the new light rail vehicles could be manufactured by a local rolling stock producer and they could be delivered 1 year after the tender is organised. Thus, the Municipality will be able to provide better public transport services.

Currently there are 26 vehicles running on the light rail system in Samsun.

Starting February 18 a new tram will be added to the system and in March two new other rail vehicles will be running in Samsun, thus the rolling stock of the city will have 29 trams.

Later, the light rail system will have 40 trains in total with the arrival of the new trams.

Currently, the light rail vehicles running in Samsun are manufactured by Ansaldo Breda, Chinese CNR company and the Turkish company, Durmazlar.

Samulas is the light rail transport operator.
