RZD initiates reconstruction of Belgrade – Bar rail line

RZD International-Belgrade Pachevo_e88b1618fcc040f23ccdb95c98cd25e5Works on rehabilitation of the 77.6 km long Resnik – Valjevo railway, which is the 1st stage of reconstruction of the Belgrade – Bar (Montenegro) railway line (a part of the TEN-T Corridor XI) were launched.
The Belgrade – Bar line, with its 287 km to the border of Montenegro, is the longest railway line in Serbia. Since its construction 40 years ago, the line has never undergone rehabilitation. In order to meet up-to-date safety and high-speed traffic requirements of the Resnik-Valjevo section, RZD International will rehabilitate the embankment and permanent way, conduct reconstruction of 2 tunnels, 17 bridges, catenary system, signaling and telecommunications, as well as repairs of all infrastructure along the railway line, including 10 railway stations.
Some construction and installation works will be performed by Serbian subcontractors. After repairs, design parameters of the line will be restored, and the maximum speed of passenger traffic will increase up to 120 km/h.
Rehabilitation works are to be performed in accordance with the contract, signed between RZD International  and Infrastructure of Serbian Railways in December 2015.
The project is scheduled to be completed by June 2018 and its contractual price is about USD 80 million.
