Russia invests USD 130mln for rail access at Taman seaport

Taman-seaport_118_Untitled-7In 2016, the Russian federal budget will allocate RUB 8.7 billion (USD 130 million) for the creation of dry cargo area at Taman seaport under the targeted investment programme “Development of Russia’s Transport System”, Krasnodar Territory Administration announces.
The project is to be implemented through private-public partnership. Its implementation is estimated at RUB 228 billion (USD 3.5 billion) including RUB 76 billion (USD 1.1 million) from the federal budget and RUB 152 billion (USD 2.2 billion) from off-budget sources.
RUB 4.9 billion (USD 73 million)of federal allocations have been spent from the start of the project including RUB 1.8 billion (USD 27 million)spent for designing and RUB 3.1 billion (USD 47 million) provided to Russian Railways for construction of railway approaches under the project on construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait.
Phase I of Taman seaport dry cargo area including road and railway approaches is to be completed in 2018. Completion of hydraulic engineering facilities (Phase II) is scheduled for 2019-2024.
There are 17 commercial seaports in the Azov-Black Sea Basin with the port of Novorossiysk handling over 65% of cargo.
