Russia: Far Eastern Railways finishes rail modernisation on Sakhalin Island

02-rusiaFar Eastern Railways, a branch of RZD, has finished the gauge change at the 102-105 kilometers section of the Shakhta – Ilyinsk line, on the western coast of Sakhalin Island.
This year, the gauge of the island railway was changed near the Holmsk station. Within one month, the rail tracks were reconstructed at the Holmsk-North, Holmsk-Marshalling Yard, Holmsk-Sourth stations and the railroad sections between them, including 5.5 km within the town.
