Russia: construction of Bovanenkovo-Sabetta rail line to start in 2017

06-rusiaThe design of the Bovanenkovo-Sabetta railway line with a link to the port has been completed. The project implementation will begin in 2017, according to Dmitry Kobylkin, Governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District.
The railway line will be built through a private-public partnership as the final part of the Northern Latitudinal Railway (NLR) linking it to the Northern Sea Route. Its length will exceed 170 km. The designed speed of the line is 50 km/h.
The line is forecasted to transport 7 mln t of cargo from the fifth year of operation and 14 mln t from the tenth year of operation. In the future its capacity could be expanded to 35 mln t per year.
