Renfe to launch tender for the acquisition of 40 high-speed trains

renfeIn September, Renfe will launch the tender to purchase 40 new high-speed trains, a contract that is estimated at EUR 1.1 billion. The contract is to be awarded next year, the president of the company Pablo Vázquez said.
Under the contract, the supplier will deliver 30 high-speed trains, and 10 dual-gauge tains that will be used on Alvia services wich operate the high-speed and conventional rail networks.
Train orders under the new framework contract will be issued progressively, in accordance with high-speed travel demand, which is expected to increase as Spain will open new high-speed lines in the next few months.
