RATP Dev and John Holland signed a memorandum of understanding to enter the Australian market by participating on the operation and maintenance tender for Sydney Metro West and Sydney Metro Greater West.
John Holland is currently delivering the tunnels for Sydney Metro City and Southwest and celebrated the successful construction of Sydney Metro Northwest in May. It is also part of the Metro Trains Sydney consortium that operates and maintains Sydney Metro Northwest.
The future partnership has huge potential, with RATP Dev’s unique leadership in driverless metro operations, and John Holland’s 70-year history in Australia.
RATP Dev will soon be opening a new unit in Sydney to become its headquarters for Australia & New Zealand.
Sydney Metro West – a new underground railway between the CBDs of Parramatta and Sydney. The line will service the key precincts of Greater Parramatta, Westmead, Sydney Olympic Park, the Bays Precinct and the Sydney CBD. It is expected to be operational in the second half of the 2020.
Sydney Metro Greater West is the new railway line which will service Greater Western Sydney and the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport.
The Australian and NSW governments have a shared objective of having the metro rail operational in 2026 when the Western Sydney Airport is scheduled to open.
