The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) reported a profit of R336 million (EUR 24M) in the financial year ending 2013/14 – an increase said to be equivalent to 315% over the corresponding period in the previous year.
Total revenue of the group increased by 21% to R10.2 billion (EUR 729M). At Prasa’s annual general meeting in Pretoria, minister of transport Dipuo Peters reported a 14.2% rise in operating revenue, mainly due to an increase in fare revenue and leasing income. Total assets increased by 13.4% in 2014 compared to 2013. Liabilities rose by “about” 11.8%.
