Polish Railways signed 20 contracts for environmental studies

pkpUnder the 2014-2020 investment plan of Polish Railways (PKP PLK), 20 contracts for the elaboration of environmental studies covering nearly 900 km of railway lines were signed.
PKP PLK is working closely with contractors the environmental research, and the currently framework agreement is being carried out for 450 km of rail lines, including Line 201 and Line 203- Bydgoszcz – Tri-City.
‘The quality of the environmental studies is essential in the process of obtaining permits and approvals. Higher quality documentation, with a smaller number of amendments are closer to the realization of the investment. In addition, the ongoing cooperation with contractors results in the future more detailed guidelines for the projects,’ said the director of PLK’s Environmental Protection Office Ewa Makosz.
Since November 2015, seven companies are working with Polish Railways on 5 types of environmental studies.
Polish Railways signed the contracts under the EUR 16 billion National Railway Programme, adopted by Poland’s Council of Ministers in September 2015. Under the strategy, the company has announced tenders for railway projects. In August 2016, the company said that by the end of this year will announce tenders worth EUR 1.5 billion. PKP PLK has already prepared documentation for the tenders to be announced this year.
