Poland: Małopolskie Voivodship buys 12 EMUs

newag railMałopolskie Voivodship and Newag have signed a PLN 300 million (EUR 70 million) contract for the supply of 12 EMUs.
Under the agreement, Newag will have to deliver 6 Impuls trains by  November 2016 that will be put into operation in December. The remaining 6 trains will be delivered until February 2017. The project is financed through the Regional Operational Programme of the Malopolska Region for 2014-2020.
The purchase of rolling stock provided was funding the project “Purchase of electric traction for the development of the Malopolska” of the Regional Operational Programme of the Malopolska Region for 2014-2020.
According to the local authorities, Małopolskie Voivodship needs to purchase 60 trains by 2020.
