NWS: Panania station upgrade project approved

pananiaTransport for NSW has announced that planning approval has been received for a major upgrade of Panania Station, in Sydney suburb. A tender for the design and construction of the project has been released, and a contractor is expected to be on board in the coming months.
The proposed improvements at Panania Station include three new lifts and stairs, new pedestrian bridge, improvements to the bicycle facilities and interchanges areas, improvements to lighting and CCTV surveillance, the refurbishment of the heritage platform building.
“The improvements will ensure that all our customers, including people with disabilities, the elderly, passengers with prams or luggage and young children, can easily access public transport,” Transport for NSW spokesperson said.
Early works are expected to start in 2016 and the upgrade will take approximately 18 months to complete.
