Nomad Digital to deliver WiFi solution for GWR

Nomad Digital has partnered with Great Western Railway (GWR) to deliver its leading WiFi solution on the operator’s new Intercity Express Trains. This builds on an existing partnership with GWR and involves the installation of Nomad’s connectivity system on 93 new trains. Nomad’s systems will be built into the new trains which will all be in passenger service by the end of 2019, with the first entering service later this year.
The new Intercity Express Trains will have Nomad’s open connectivity infrastructure built into them. This also marks the deployment of Nomad’s next-generation CCU platform. Nomad’s latest compact WiFi router architecture incorporates modern technologies including next-generation modems and access points, enabling additional operational applications to be quickly integrated by GWR, providing a future-proofed solution to the customer.
In addition, Nomad will provide a complete reporting and monitoring solution to GWR, utilising its new market-leading Fleetview and NDInsight systems, which help operators to view the connectivity performance of their fleets in real-time. The partnership involves Nomad’s provision of a full-service management package for the new Intercity Express Train fleet comprising the service of its dedicated on-the-ground systems’ maintenance experts and additional ancillary support through Nomad’s customer service centre in the UK.
GWR provides high speed, commuter, regional and branch line train services across South Wales, the West Country, the Cotswolds, and large parts of Southern England.
