New York modernizes two more rail stations

nyMTA New York City Transit will close the Sutter Av-Rutland Rd and Junius St stations as part of an ongoing USD 88 million capital project to rehabilitate 7 elevated stations along the New Lots Av line in Brooklyn’s Brownsville and East New York neighborhoods.
For these stations that originally opened in the early 1900’s, improvements include the installation of new lighting, platforms, enhanced safety features, and upgraded communications. This project will bring all of these stations to a state-of-good repair and will create significantly better conditions for passengers.
Each station will be painted, and canopies, windscreen panels and railings will also be replaced as required.  Customers will also benefit from new lighting in the mezzanines, and the incorporation of new artwork on the platforms.
