New high speed rail line starts service in China

02-chinaA new high speed rail connection between the cities of Harbin and Qiqihar in Heilongjiang started operations. With a designated speed of 250 kilometers per hour and eight stops, the trains travel from Harbin to Qiqihar in 85 minutes, down from the previous three hours it took to complete the journey. The trains have been modified to adapt to temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius and resist adverse weather, such as strong winds, heavy rain, snow and fog.
