Network Rail rebuilds two bridges in Tameside

NetworkRail electrificationelectriAs part of the electrification program, of the railway between Manchester and Stalybridge, two bridges are to be rebuilt, Network Rail announced.
Network Rail is investing more than £1 billion (EUR 1.43 billion) in the north of England to provide passengers with a better railway. To electrify the line the bridges have to be rebuilt to increase the clearance underneath to accommodate overhead lines which will power trains.
“The rebuilding of these bridges is an essential part of the electrification of the railway which will provide passengers with faster, more reliable and efficient services,” Aisling Wall, scheme project manager for Network Rail said.
