Moscow Oblast to start light rail services by 2028

06-moscovaThe Ministry of Transport of the Moscow Oblast  expects to launch its first light rail line by 2028. The 74 km long line will link Podolsk, Domodedovo Airport, Zhukovsky Airport and Ramenskoe. The line will have 30 km of bridges and viaducts.
The Moscow Oblast Government intends to announce the tender for the design, construction and operation of the light rail line in June. The project is valued at 139 billion RUB (1,8 bn euros). Design and construction of the line are scheduled for January 2017 – December 2028.
The line is expected to carry 45 million passengers every year by 2023 and 94 million passengers by 2045.
