In previous years, plant production was lower: 177 freight wagons in 2022 and only 11 in 2021. This year, the plan is to build 120 grain wagons for 1,520 mm gauge.

From February 2022 to November 2023, Ukrainian Railways’ freight wagon fleet has been reduced from 128,000 to 108,000 units. At the end of last year, the Federation of Ukrainian Transport Employers asked Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov to cancel an order limiting the life of wagons, which was adopted in 2022. The federation estimates that the order could lead to the scrapping of some 21,000 wagons by 2028, as the country is unable to produce them.
