Metrovagonmash has new railcar painting workshop

Metrovagonmash, part of Transmashholding, has put into service a new modern workshop for coach painting and bead-blasting. The workshop’s capacity is 50 car bodies per month. The project cost exceeded RUB 166 million (EUR 2.3 million).
The new workshop is equipped with the most modern and hi-tech equipment, including an abrasive treatment and surface padding complex along with a painting-drying unit. These will be used for bead-blasting of both steel car bodies and stainless steel coaches for series 765 («Moskva» trains).
Besides a significant increase in production volume of painted metalware, some other bonuses of the new technology include the increase in the quality of car body surface cleaning before primary padding, the double increase in capacity when applying the padding and a five-fold increase when applying mastic, as well as an improved ventilation system, and a retractable bead supply conveyor, allowing to cut down material expenses ten-fold.
