Toronto transport agency Metrolinx filed a notice of default against Bombardier Inc. for the delayed delivery of a fleet of light-rail vehicles. The notice gives a short deadline for Bombardier to provide an updated schedule for the delivery of the vehicles, none of which have yet been delivered.
In 2010 Bombardier won a roughly USD 770 million contract to deliver 182 vehicles between 2013 and 2020. The light-rail vehicles are to be used in a new transit project crossing Toronto due to open in 2021.
