In December, Ukrzaliznytsia state rail transport administration saw a reduction in freight volumes of 24.6%, to 29.4mn tonnes. Domestic freight decreased by 32.5% to 12.8mn tonnes. Import cargo made up 2.9mn tonnes (down 6.6% by comparison with December 2013), while export freight made up 10.78mn tonnes (down 19.6%), and transit cargo made up 2.85mn tonnes (down 16.4%). The fall in export cargo was generated by the reduction of coal volumes (by 95.8%), crude and petroleum products (81.8%) and ferrous metals (33.8%). Despite the total fall in import cargoes of 6.6%, the company registered an increase in the volumes of crude and petroleum products (9.8%), iron-ore and manganese ore (13.7%), chemical and mineral fertilizers (59.9%), as well as coke (184%).
