Leo Express to offer Prague-Berlin rail services

Private rail operator Leo Express has asked the Czech authorities for approval of a rail service between Prague and Berlin. Leo Express already offers train connections in the Czech Republic and has been operating in Germany since last year. In August, it took over German rail carrier Locomore and operates a connection between Berlin and Stuttgart. In addition, the company wants to expand its service in Poland, by adding connections to Wrocław and Warsaw. Leo Express CEO Peter Köhler said the company was awaiting approval but the service could start in the second half of this year.
This year, the company expects to increase its revenue by half, mainly due to the introduction of the new lines. For the expansion, Leo Express will be leasing trains and also expects to receive the first of the three trains that it has ordered from Chinese manufacturer CRRC.
