KTZ to implement 21 projects under Digital Railway strategy

Kazakhstan temir zholy has announced that under the 2018-2022 Digital Railway strategy, 21 projects will be implemented, of which two are part of Digital Kazakhstan, the state programme. According to preliminary estimates, the total economic effect from the implementation of the strategy’s projects will be KZT 115 billion tenge (EUR 292 million).
In railway passenger transport sector, the objectives are to increase customer-orientation and to improve the quality of services provided. Within the framework of electronic ticketing, passengers are presented with an alternative possibility of issuing tickets through Internet resources and over 17,000 terminals. By the end of 2017, e-ticket sales accounted for 64 per cent of the total number, and, by 2020, the company’s goal is 90 per cent of the transition to e-tickets.
“It is planned to implement a system of centralized management of customer appeals 24/7, which will improve the feedback from clients through prompt response to appeals and complaints,” Kanat Alpysbaev, the head of KTZ said.
Digitalization of processes in the sphere of multimodal transport is aimed at the development of transit container transport. A single platform for the electronic exchange has now been created. Its participants are more than 1,700 customers. The automated system of processes on the SEZ “Khorgos – Eastern Gate” was introduced. This reduces the trains’ crossover through the checkpoint from 10 minutes to 30 seconds and the costs of participants at registration (from EUR 2 000 to EUR 200).
“In order to reduce the time for processing orders and to select the optimal logistics route, an integrated multi-modal transport management platform is implemented on the principle of a “single window”,” Alpysbayev explained.
Information systems are also being introduced in freight rail transport. They increase the efficiency of the organisation of the transport process, ensure the timely delivery and safety of goods, and simplify the procedures for crossing the borders of other railway administrations.
“The company implemented a service for online tracking of goods, introduced a system of electronic lock devices that ensure the safety of cargo and prompt response to attempts to unauthorized access to cargo, introduced an automated system. The 100 per cent “paperless” application for freight transport was realized, as well as integration with the “Astana-1″ information system of the State Revenue Committee of Finance of Kazakhstan,” Alpysbayev said.
Within the framework of the “Digital Railway”, the company is working on cost optimisation, the implementation of the digital railway track diagnostics project, the Traffic Management and Digital Services Center at 17 railway stations.
