KTZ could benefit from new transit center in Estonian port

02-paldiskiEstonian private port operator Paldiski Sadamate AS plans to set up a transit center for railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) in the Northern Port of Paldiski. The new transit center would ease access for goods from Kazakhstan to the Scandinavian market.
Paldiski Sadamate AS has a long-term partnership with KTZ and the parties are currently trying to expand and intensify their cooperation, Aleksandr Kovaljov, board member of Paldiski Sadamate AS, said.
The company listed several options for building the new terminals. One of them is selling the construction permit to the partner and establishing a joint venture with the partner later to operate the transit center. A “turnkey” option is not ruled out either, where the terminal would be built by the Estonian side and the Kazakh partner would become the operator of the terminal.
