InnoTrans 2020 edition is rescheduledMesse Berlin has announced that the InnoTrans 2020 edition is rescheduled for Spring of 2021, following a decree of the Berlin Senate which bans the events with more than 5,000 persons until 24 October 2020, a decision taken due to coronavirus pandemic. The thirteenth InnoTrans edition (2020) was scheduled to take place on September 22-25.

The organizer is finalizing an alternative event date which will be unveiled at the beginning of May at the latest.

Until 19 April 2020 no events were held on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds in accordance with a directive issued by the Berlin Senate on 22 March, which stipulates that no public or private events, gatherings or meetings shall take place during this time.

A provisional treatment centre for Covid-19 patients was set up in Hall 26 on the grounds of Messe Berlin, which was completely partitioned off from the remainder of the exhibition grounds.

InnoTrans 2020 edition will bring together 23 international transport companies, more than ever before, with a special attraction for reduced-emission transport concepts from China, Latvia, Japan, Turkey, Italy, Hungary, Dubai, Russia and Austria.

This edition will focus on inter- and multi-modal transport which has acquired increased importance due to the expansion of digital infrastructure, while safety concept is becoming more and more important for transport companies and passengers.

In February 2019, 18 months before the next edition, 80 per cent of floor space was booked, an important signal for its success. The international trade fair for transport technology is presenting each aspect of the sustainable and smart mobility, the core concepts of the future transport system.

The InnoTrans last edition held in 2018, gathered 3,062 exhibitors from 61 countries presented their innovations to 153,421 trade visitors who came from 149 countries. More than 400 innovations were unveiled in 2018 and 155 vehicles were displayed on the 3.5 km of rail track. Railway technology, railway infrastructure, public transport, interiors and tunnel construction are the five segments of InnoTrans.
