INEA signs agreements to finance Greek transport projects

02-greciaThe Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) signed 4 grant agreements with the Greek Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism, for transport projects financed under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) worth a combined EUR 499 million in EU support. The projects were selected under the 2014 CEF Transport calls, which made EUR 13 billion available to finance projects to improve European transport infrastructure, promote transport safety, develop intelligent transport systems and mitigate the environmental impact of the sector.
INEA Executive Director Dirk Beckers noted: “Today marks a key point for the implementation phase of these Greek projects which have a high European added value. The Agency will ensure that for the coming years, everything progresses on time and on budget, closely monitoring each and every project so that we can deliver these critical infrastructure improvements to European citizens and businesses.”
The projects concern important infrastructure works and studies leading to upgrades for the rail sector in Greece.
