Hamburg’s U-Bahn network is expanding

Hamburger Hochbahn, the metro transport operator in the German city of Hamburg, filed a planning request for the extension of Line U4 Horner Geest. The extension, 2.6 km long, will start at Horner Rennbahn station, in the eastern part of the city, this station being common for the the U2 / U4 metro lines. The new extension of the U-Bahn will have two new stations, Stoltenstrasse and Dannerallee, providing transport for approximately 13,000 inhabitants.
Subject to planning approval, work is expected to start at the end of 2019. The project is estimated a cost of EUR 465 million and is due to be completed in mid-2020.
