Expansion works started for ÖBB’s Wolfurt cargo terminal

WolfurtÖBB’s Wolfurt (Vorarlberg) cargo terminal will be substantially expanded until 2018 and equipped for future cargo transport requirements. The ground breaking ceremony for launching the project took place on 23 January. In three phases, the terminal will grow by 72,000 m², to 106,000 m², following investmens of 66 million euros. In the first phase a new system for wagonload transport will be built in the north, and the existing terminal will be usable for the most part, without restrictions. In the second phase in mid-2016, the establishment of the first part of the plant for combined freight traffic will take place. In the final stages in mid-2017 the southern structures will be built. In addition, the ÖBB will build a workshop for container repair and a service building to improve services. The cargo terminal was opened in 1982.
