Eight bidders apply for Sofia metro tender

sofia-metroEight companies and tie-ups expressed interest in the construction of a 4 km-long section of Sofia’s metro. The section, which will have four stations, is divided into two lots. It will become part of the planned third line of Sofia Metro. The project’s estimated cost is BGN 178 million (EUR 91 million).
The bidders had the right to submit offers only for one of the two lots.
For the first lot, a 2.3 km section, five Bulgarian companies have submitted offers: GP Group, Geostroy, Patstroy, Glavbolgarstroy, and Evroalians Geotehnika, some of them bidding as joint ventures with other smaller companies.
For the second lot, a 1.5 km long section with two stations, there was one foreign bidder, a Spanish tie-up between San Jose Constructora and Obras Subterraneas, and two Bulgarian bidders: Via Konstrukt Grup and Evroalians Tuneli, another subsidiary of Evroalians.
The winners will have to complete the construction of the two lots within three years.
