Detroit: Transdev selected as QLINE operator

qlineM-1 Rail, the QLINE operator in Detroit, has entered into a contract with Transdev Services Inc for the operations and maintenance of the QLINE. Transdev will be responsible for all aspects of operations and maintenance, dispatch, vehicle and track maintenance, etc. The initial five-year contract for USD 15.5 million is renewable for up to five additional years.
QLINE will facilitate intermodal connections to all forms of transportation in the city and region, including DDOT and SMART buses, the Detroit People Mover, the Amtrak railway station in New Center and bicycle routes.
QLINE is a 10.6 km line circulating tram loop connecting downtown Detroit to Midtown. Construction began in 2014 and the construction of the rail line should be largely completed this year with the system operational by spring of 2017.
