DB to invest EUR 10.7 billion in 2019

Deutsche Bahn announced that this year, EUR 10.7 billion will be invested in railway infrastructure across Germany. The investment programme includes 50 separate projects envisaging the modernisation of 1500 km of tracks, 300 bridges, 1500 turnouts and 650 stations.
“We are getting better control over the construction works. Despite a 20 percent increase in construction activity, we have reduced the associated delays by 27 percent,” Ronald Pofalla, DB Board Member for Infrastructure said.
By using digital technology, Deutsche Bahn is expecting a 20 percent increase in network’s capacity.
Since 2010 DB rehabilitated 16,000 km of tracks, representing half of country’s railway network.
