CWE and Touax Rail sign maintenance service agreement

rolling stock maintenance agreement Touax Rail and CWE Ltd signed a major rolling stock maintenance agreement for 32 wagons. The contract was signed for a period of 12 years and will see the provision of overhaul and general refurbishment services for the Touax rail fleet. The work will be delivered out of CWE’s new rail-linked facility in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, England, which provides wagon maintenance, overhaul and repair services for the rail industry and it has been opened at the end of last year.

“This new collaboration with CWE represents a significant step forward for Touax and opens up new perspectives for organising maintenance and satisfying customers. CWE is surrounded by a motivated, competent and available team that helps us build maintenance solutions that are adapted to the expectations of customers and ECMs (Entity in Charge of Maintenance),” Cédric Scheiffer, Maintenance Organisation Manager at Touax, said.

The rolling stock maintenance agreement is for CWE and Touax “an important step together” and affirms their mutual confidence for the future. It is also a new opportunity for Touax to strengthen its portfolio of maintenance providers in the UK, in order to offer a wider range of services and solutions to customers in terms of maintenance and availability of wagon fleets,” Cédric Scheiffer explains.

Touax leases freight railcars, river barges and containers and owns more than EUR 1.3 billion of assets under management.

The contract follows a period of growth for CWE, which also recently announced it has signed a three-year contract with Axtone, the global manufacturer of energy absorption technologies for the rail sector, to become its only partner in the UK. Under this contract, CWE will provide overhaul and refurbishment services as well as facilitating the supply of new Axtone buffers to the UK rail industry. The work with CWE will be carried out at its Centre of Excellence for Rail, based at its Crowle plant, which provides customers in the sector with one of the most comprehensive rolling stock refurbishment services in the UK.
