Contract awarded for Olsztyn tram depot expansion

Olsztyn municipality and Budimex signed a PLN 90.5 million (EUR 19.34 million) contract for the expansion of the tram depot at 40 Kołobrzeska Street in Olsztyn.

The contract will be carried out in consortium with KZN Rail. Budimex is the leader of the consortium, with a contribution of approximately 87.88%.

The expansion of the depot covers a total area of 8,100 m2 and works are expected to be completed in 18 months.

The consortium will be responsible to develop complete design documentation and construction of the depot expansion as well as to obtain the necessary administrative decisions. Under the contract, the two companies will also conduct the tests in the scope necessary to commission and put in service all the elements, devices and facilities related to the order.

The first stage of the project covers the development of multi-discipline design documentation, obtaining a building permit, execution of demolition works, execution of the track and road layout on the premises of the depot together with the reconstruction of the underground infrastructure, execution of the roundhouse building with equipment and construction of a service hall in regards to its structure, roofing and outer walls.

The second stage, covered by a right of option, assumes the finishing and equipment of the service hall as well as execution and commissioning of the traffic control system on the premises of the tram depot.
