China’s National Development and Reform Commission has announced that work will begin on a metro network in Jinan (Shandong province). The $7bn (6 bn euros) first phase of the development will involve the construction of three lines with a total length of 81 km. The trains will have a maximum speed of 120kph. Construction of phase one is due to start this year and will be completed by 2019.
