Catalan Railways put into service the first new trains

FGC1The first two trains of the five acquired by Catalan Railways – Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGC) from the Alstom-CAF consortium run on line L7 of the FGC. The other trains will come into commercial service in the course of the next few weeks once they have completed the trial period. The new trains of series 114 will cover the route for line L7, where the platforms of the stations are shorter. For this reason the new trains are made up of 3 carriages.
These five trains, added to the 19 trains of series 113 which already offer a commercial service in Metro del Vallès will allow for the renewal and modernization of the fleet of the Barcelona-Vallès line and the gradual replacement of the series 111 trains.
The length and capacity of the new trains is 60-metre long trains and the maximum capacity of the trains is 605 passengers, between seated and standing, increasing the capacity of the series 111 units by 30 passengers.
