Cairo Metro Line 3 phase 3A inaugurated

The Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir inaugurated the Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 3A for which Alstom successfully supplied, tested and commissioned the signalling, centralised control and driving modes.

The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) Sherif Leil, the France’s ambassador to Egypt Marc Baréty, Ramy Salah, Alstom’s Egypt Managing Director as well as other representatives of Alstom in Egypt.

In November 2015, NAT awarded Alstom a contract to provide system and subsystem design, manufacturing, installation, testing / commissioning, training, maintenance for signalling, driving modes, centralised control and telecommunication systems for Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 3. On the same date, NAT awarded Alstom, as a member of the G3 Power Supply Consortium, a contract for the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, training, maintenance of power traction system and depot equipment.

As part of the contract, Alstom delivered its Ubalis signalling technology for the Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 3A served by four stations from Attaba to Kit Kat.

It is expected that over 30,000 commuters per hour, per direction will use the line section.
