Bulgaria authorizes MoU for Sofia-Skopje railway line

The Bulgarian government authorized the Transport minister to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with his Macedonian counterpart to complete the construction of a railway line that will connect Sofia and Skopja. Under the MoU, Bulgaria commits to completing the railway line connecting Sofia to the border with Macedonia via the towns of Pernik and Radomir, by 2027. Macedonia commits to completing the railway line in the direction of Kriva Palanka – Deve Bair – Bulgarian border by 2025.
Last month, the Bulgarian Transport minister Ivaylo Moskovski has agreed with his Macedonian counterpart Goran Sugareski that the project for the completion of the Sofia-Skopje railway line would need foreign investment in order to be implemented.
